Quality control in inflatable boat manufacturing is critical for safety and durability. This paper documents the Wavefella QC framework, which exceeds ISO 9001:2015 requirements with 24 distinct inspection checkpoints from raw material receipt to final packaging.
QC Checkpoints
Stage 1: Raw Material Inspection
- PVC fabric: Tensile strength, coating adhesion, thickness uniformity
- Threads: Tensile strength, elongation, temperature rating
- Valves: Pressure rating, seal integrity, corrosion resistance
- Adhesives: Viscosity, open time, cure time, temperature tolerance
Stage 2: In-Process Inspection
Every 50th unit during production:
- Weld seam strength: Pull test at 3 sample points
- Coating integrity: Visual inspection under UV light
- Thread alignment: Density measurement at 5 locations
- Valve installation: Torque test, seal test
Stage 3: Finished Product Testing
100% of units:
- 24-hour pressure test: Inflated to 15 PSI, max 1 PSI loss
- Seam leak test: Soap solution at all seams under 10 PSI
