Safety standards for inflatable watercraft are established through international certification bodies. The primary standard is CE certification under EN ISO 6185 — "Inflatable boats — Safety requirements and test methods" — which defines construction, testing, and performance requirements.
The standard covers: material specifications, seam strength requirements, valve performance, pressure testing protocols, buoyancy and stability, load capacity marking, and user instructions.
For commercial operators, CE certification provides legal compliance and liability protection. Many insurance providers require CE-certified equipment for commercial water sports programs.
